Myths: Mammy

1981: Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts/ARS, New York

Although Warhol took on more commercial work and a commercial look in the 1970s and 1980s, he retained his wit and insight. His series of myths in America, ranging from Aunt Jemima to Mickey Mouse, fingered with acute perception the socialised conditions of a commercialised culture.
