1427: Cappella Brancacci, Santa Maria del Carmine, Florence

Masaccio, along with Brunelleschi and Donatello, helped to formulate the principles of perspective and foreshortening for generations of Renaissance artists. Vasari praised Masaccio's ability to reproduce structures and figures exactly as those created naturally.
