Naked Girl Asleep, II

1968: Private collection

Lucien painted figures that were apparently cold and aloof, like slabs of meat, and with such an insistent reality of physical presence in image and brushwork, that one is reminded of the simple existentialist response to life: we exist first and all else follows.
