Nightmare

The Incubus

1781-82:

Linked with Blake in friendship and imaginative aim, unlike him Fuseli was not conserned with the conflicts of good and evil, but in a Surrealist fashion with the creation of an atmosphere of dream and hallucination. The Nightmare, painted in 1782, remains one of the most successful attempts to convey this atmosphere pictorially.
