1820: The Currier Gallery of Art, Manchester, N.H.

Constable's father owned and worked the Dedham mill, and Constable knew it well, making numerous oil sketches of it. His treatment of water, reflections, atmosphere, and light shows his strong affinity with the great Dutch masters of the seventeenth century.
