Girl with a Pearl Earring

Buy now from allposters.com1665: Mauritshuis, The Hague

An exquisite example of Vermeer's mastery of light, shadow and colour; although there is a propless background, this exotically dressed young woman inhabits her own three-dimensional space. One can almost sense the subtle movement of her veil and detect that she has just wet her lips to speak.
