The Industrial Revolution was a time of dramatic change, from hand tools and handmade items, to products which were mass produced by machines. Productivity increased, working conditions suffered, pollution increased, but prices for manufactured goods dropped dramatically and there was a greater availability of manufactured goods available to rich and poor alike.
