1807 Writes his first composition, a piece of sacred choral music, at the age of six
1819 Begins studying at the Naples Conservatory
1825 Writes his first opera Adelson e Salvini for a graduation performance at the conservatory theatre
1827 The premiere of Il pirata, in Naples
1828 Embarks on a three-year affair with Giuditta Cantů
1829 Writes his second opera La straniera
1831 Writes his most famous opera, Norma
1833 Travels to London and then Paris, where he befriends Rossini and Chopin
1834 Writes his last opera, I puritani
1835 Appointed a Chevalier of the Légion d'honneur. Dies 23 September, near Paris, from gastroenteritis
