1537 Pupil of Mallapert and Firmin Lebel at St. Maria Maggiore, Rome, where he was a choirboy
1544 He became organist of St. Agapito, in Palestrina
1547 Marries Lucrezia Gori, they have three children.
1551 Appointed maestro di cappella of the Cappella Giulia in Rome
1555 Appointed maestro di cappella at St. John Lateran in Rome
1561 Appointed maestro di cappella at St. Maria Maggiore in Rome
1564 Cardinal Ippolito d'Este engaged him to oversee the music at his Tivoli estate
1566 Teaches music at the Seminario Romano
1571 Returns to the Cappella Giulia as maestro
1577 Asked to rewrite the church's main plainchant books, following the Council of Trent's guidelines
