1678 Father dies; at the age of ten his musical genius is already recognised and encouraged by Lalande (the successor to the St. Gervais organist post)
1686 Succeeds Lalande as organist at St. Gervais church in Paris
1689 26 April marries Marie-Anne Ansault
1693 Appointed royal organist and harpsichordist under Louis XIV
1700 Acquires position as harpsichordist at Versailles
1701 Promoted to chamber musician and music master to the royal family
1717 Completes L'art de toucher le clavecin (The Art of Playing the Harpsichord)
1733 Died 11 September in Paris
