Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
(1756 - 1791)

1756 Born 27 January, in Salzburg, Vienna
1759 At age 3, he begins to play the harpsichord
1761 At age 5, he begins to compose
1762 Father Leopold takes him to Paris and London
1769 First visit to Italy where his love for opera is born
1771 At age 15, he begins his service with the Archbishop of Salzburg
1778 Death of his mother
1781 Dismissed from post with the Archbishop and settles in Vienna
1782 Marries Constanze Weber
1785 Meets Haydn, who praises him as "the greatest living composer"
1787 Visits Prague for production of his latest operas. His father dies
1791 Dies on 5 December in Vienna and is buried in an unmarked grave
