1897 Begins studies at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts
1900 Moves to Paris, studies the Fauves
1901 Receives his craftsman certificate
1902 Paints at the Académie Humbert in Paris
1903 Early works (until ~1905) are in the mood of Impressionism
1906 Beginning of Fauve period
1907 Shows his Fauve work in the Salon des Indépendants
