1441 Adopted by Francesco Squarcione, an art teacher in Padua
1448 Sets up his own workshop
1453 Marries Nicolosia Bellini, sister of Giovanni and Gentile Bellini
1454 Employed by the church of S. Giustina, Padua, where he painted the Ancona
1456 Secures his release from Squarcione
1459 Moves to Mantua to work for the Gonzaga family
1488 Called to Rome by Pope Innocent VIII to fresco a chapel in the Vatican palace
1506 Dies in Mantua 13 September
