1857 Attends the Free Drawing School
1858 Enters the drawing academy in Aix
1859 Unwillingly begins to study law at the University of Aix
1861 Abandons law and visits Paris (meets Pissarro)
1863 Exhibits in the Salon des Refusés
1864 Rejected for the Salon (every year until 1869)
1864 Works in the Atelier Suisse
1870 Begins relationship with Hortense Fiquet
1870 Outbreak of Franco-Prussian war, Cézanne travels to L'Estaque
1872 Son, Jean, is born
1873 Spends the year in the rue Rémy in Auvers with Hortense and their son Jean. Works daily with Pissarro
1874 Exhibits three paintings at the first Impressionist exhibition
1877 Returns to Aix
1877 Shows 16 paintings at the third Impressionist Exhibition
1886 Father dies, leaving him an appreciable fortune
1886 Last Impressionist exhibition took place in which he exhibits paintings
1886 Marries mistress Hortense
1889 La Maison du Pendu shown at the Paris World Fair
1894 Spends summer at Giverny at the home of Monet
1899 Mother dies, Jas de Bouffan is sold to settle the family estate
1901 Purchases land north of Aix-en-Provence and builds a large studio and house
