1893 Born 18 March in Oswestry, Britain
1895 Family moves to Birkenhead
1906 Family moves to Shrewsbury, where Owen attends the Technical School
1912 Fails the University of London's entrance exam
1913 Appointed lay assistant to, Revd. Herbert Wigan, the vicar of Dunsden; Owen leaves the parish after they argue
1913 Owen leaves the parish
1914 Teaches English at the Berlitz school in Bordeaux
1915 Enlists in September
1916 Attends Officer's school in Essex, then joins the Manchester Regiment
1917 Posted to France in January
March - Injured with concussion
April - Returns to front line
May - Diagnosed with shell-shock ('neurasthenia') and sent back to England
June - Meets Sigfried Sassoon while at Craiglockhart War Hospital near Edinburgh
1918 June - Rejoins his regiment at Scarborough
August - Returns to France
October - Awarded the Military Cross for bravery at Amiens
Dies 4 November in a machine gun attack in Ors, France
