1835 Famous public contest with rival piano virtuoso player Sigismund Thalberg. Liszt wins
1847 Love affair with Princess Carolyne Sayn-Wittgenstein
1848 Settles in Weimar, Germany to compose and teach
1865 Enters a religious order and becomes the Abbé Liszt
1870 His daughter Cosima (by Countess Marie d'Agoult) marries Wagner
1886 Performs for Queen Victoria in Windsor Castle. Dies 31 July, in Bayreuth, Germany
